Elon Musk is the billionaire CEO of Tesla, as well as founder and CEO of SpaceX and the Boring Company among other successful companies. Born in South Africa, Elon had a fascination with computers and building businesses from a young age. He built and sold his first arcade game 'Blastar' at the age of 12.
Elon briefly attended university in South Africa, before moving to Canada to study at Queen's University. Shortly after, he transferred to Penn, and began his life in America. In 1995, Elon began his first successful startup, Zip2, which sold for $340 million to Compaq in 1999. Shortly after, Elon started X.com, which went on to merge with PayPal, and eventually was bought by eBay in 2002.
In 2002, Elon Musk began his most ambitious projects to date by starting SpaceX, followed by joining Tesla in 2004. Since then, both SpaceX and Tesla have become successful, multi-billion dollar companies. But that didn't satisfy Elon's ambition. While building SpaceX and Tesla, Elon also co-founded SolarCity in 2006, OpenAI in 2015, and both Neuralink and the Boring Company in 2016.
How has Elon managed to build so many successful companies in so few years? He credits much of his success to a childhood spent devouring books in the library. Below is a list of books Elon Musk has recommended over the years.
