Chamath Palihapitiya is the billionaire founder and CEO of Social Capital. Chamath was born in Sri Lanka, and moved to Canada as a refugee at the age of 6. After studying at the University of Waterloo, Chamath worked for one year as a derivatives trader before moving to Silicon Valley.

Once he arrived in California, Chamath worked at a series of startups and ended up finding success at AOL. There, he quickly became the youngest vice president in company history. Shortly after, he joined Facebook as the vice president for user growth, and remained at Facebook until 2011.
